Evaluation of Pyrex Glasses by the Line-Focus-Beam Ultrasonic Material Characterization System

چکیده
The line-focus-beam ultrasonic material characterization (LFB-UMC) system is applied to evaluation of commercial Pyrex glasses (C-7740, Corning Inc.). Twenty-eight specimens were prepared at random from different lots. Velocities of leaky surface acoustic waves (LSAWs), VLSAW, were measured at 225 MHz around 23°C. VLSAW was 3121.85-3149.83 m/s. To understand the velocity variations, bulk acoustic properties, viz., longitudinal and shear velocities (Vl and Vs), and density (ρ), and chemical compositions were measured for eight specimens extracted from the twenty-eight specimens. It is clarified that the VLSAW changes are related to the changes in elastic constants (c11 and c44) rather than in ρ and mainly to the changes in chemical composition ratio of B2O3/SiO2. Thus, we demonstrated that the LFB-UMC system is very useful and effective for evaluation of glasses and control of the production processes.

Homogeneity Evaluation of SAW Device Wafers by the LFB Ultrasonic Material Characterization System
− A line-focus-beam ultrasonic material characterization (LFB-UMC) system was developed to evaluate large-diameter crystals and wafers currently used in electronic devices. The system enables highly accurate detection of slight changes in the physical and chemical properties in and among specimens, as velocity changes of Rayleigh-type leaky surface acoustic waves (LSAWs) excited on the water-lo...

Objective(s): A novel IQ-SPECTTM method has become widely used in clinical studies. The present study compares the quality of myocardial perfusion images (MPI) acquired using the IQ-SPECTTM (IQ-mode),conventional (180° apart: C-mode) and L-mode (90° apart: L-mode) systems. We assessed spatial resolution, image reproducibility and quantifiability using various physical phantoms. Materials and Me...

Borosilicate BK7 glasses doped with different amounts of CeO2 (0.5,1,1.5%) were prepared by the convenient melting process in this work. DTA analysis proved that 0.5-1% CeO2 has a network modifier role and then up to 1.5% it shows network former role. For structural studies, FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy were carried out. Fermi energy level, direct/ indirect optical band gap and Urbach energy wer...
متن کاملUltrasonic–Assisted Co–Precipitation Method of Preparation of Nanocomposites in The Al2O3–TiO2–ZrO2 System: Characterization and Microsturcture
Recently, the Al2O3–TiO2–ZrO2 system has found valuable applications, particularly, as a support for NOx storage–reduction (NSR) catalysts. Nanocomposite powders were prepared from the co-precipitation method in inorganic precursors. The behaviors of mixed oxide nanoparticles under ultrasonic irradiation, such as dispersion, and crushing were studied. Phase transformations, crystallite size, an...

Introduction Hadron-therapy is an effective technique used to treat tumors that are located between or nearby vital organs. The Italian National Center of Oncological Hadron-therapy (CNAO) has been realized as the first facility in Italy to treat very difficult tumors with protons and Carbon ions. The on-line monitor system for CNAO has been developed by the Department of Physics of the Univers...
